ADULT COUNTY CUP

Cheshire always sends men and women’s teams to compete in two LTA County Cup events that are held every year.

The Summer County Cup

Commonly known as ‘County Week’ is the oldest tennis event on the domestic calendar, dating back as far as 1895. 44 counties across the UK are divided into groups based on their results of the previous year’s event with Group 1 being the ‘premier league’. Teams compete at doubles against each other over a week to see which team comes out as champions.

The Winter County Cup

A one-off three-day weekend event, taking place at venues around the nation every year. Players compete in both singles and doubles. The 44 counties are placed in 22 groups of four counties per gender. These groups are placed in order of the previous year’s results with Group 1 being the ‘premier league’. Final positions are based on how each county performs within that particular group – with top teams getting promoted to the next group and bottom teams relegated to the group below.

35+ Overview

The 35 and Over County Cup events are separate long-weekend competitions held at Eastbourne in August for the over 35s County Cup involving a further 80 men’s and women’s teams and 450 players. Players compete in both singles and doubles.
