During the week beginning 18th August some of Cheshire’s best senior players had the privilege of playing in the British Grass Court Championships at the All England Club.
Two players did particularly well winning British titles in their respective age group. Pedro Ocana had just played for GB at the 35 & Over World Championships on clay courts so playing on a different surface presented its own challenges, however, he adapted very quickly reaching the final of the doubles which was then won in convincing style 6 – 2, 6 – 2. Unfortunately, Pedro was injured during the singles semi-final and had to concede the match.
Seb Jackson played in the 50 & Over age group and like Pedro reached the doubles final and won in straight sets 6 – 4, 6 – 1. Seb also reached the singles final and just missed out on a second title losing 7 – 5 in the 3rd set.
